K1RS, K1R and K1S change their names to X-Ray!

We are aware that our different name combinations have been confusing for our customers and retailers, especially since they are all the same model, but with different equipment levels. The fact that they have the same names as our previous models which are completely different doesn't help.

We have therefore decide to change the model name for these models to one single name - X-Ray.



X-Ray is available in 5 separate variations
The 2005 X-Ray is available in 5 different variations to suit all type of paddlers. Depending on what requirements one prefers, the X-ray can offer a wide choice of variations:

- Skeg

All X-Ray models are equipped with lots of new features for the 2005 season!


New lightweight hatches
All X-Ray models are equipped with new lightweight, click-on floating hatches which are 30% lighter than traditional rubber hatches and offer complete waterproof integrity. All variations are fitted with a large oval hatch in the aft and a round hatch for the front compartment. Also the X-Ray day hatch models are equipped with a light weight day hatch cover as a standard feature.

New upgraded deck lines
We have modified our deck rigging to include Zero stretch deck lines which are complimented by the recessed deck fittings for a clean look in addition to ensuring safety.

Bulkheads which keep you afloat
All X-Ray kayaks are fitted with 2-3 bulkheads to create watertight storage compartments. Instead of using the traditional hard fibreglass or ABS materials we have introduced closed cell foam bulkheads that reduce weight and are firmly secured with marine adhesive. The closed cell foam is an additional safety feature which allows the kayak to float, even when all compartments are waterfilled and 18kg of equipment is added.


Rudder system and rudder
All rudder models are fitted with the Smart Track rudder system from Cascade Designs, which is easy to adjust without the hassle of readjusting the zero stretch dyneema rudder lines. The pedal is designed to give firm foot support with a separate toe control for turning. The side rails are made of aluminium for better durability. The Navigator rudder from KajakSport has been modified to prevent it from rising when paddling with speed. It is easily retractable from the cockpit and deploys just as easily.

New super-comfy seats
Our brand-new, ergonomically designed seat is created by Johan Wirsén. Comfort is important while paddling and support is a key component. Our new seats are designed with an elongated, contoured seat base, which provides for excellent leg support and comfort - which is essential to comfortable long-range paddling. Elongated seat tabs that fasten the seat securely to the deck provide lateral support. A padded adjustable back strap is a standard feature on all models and provides lower back support.

New colours
We introduce a wider selection of colours in our fibreglass models for the 2005 season. The colour choices available now also include deep Yellow, Turquoise and Sand.



Upgrading of older models?
Some of our previous models kan be upgraded with parts of the new equipment introduced in the 2005 range. Below is a list of which equipment and models that are compatible:

Navigator Rudder - Alla our rudder models from 98-02 kan be equipped with the Navigator rudder. Models that were manufactured 03-04 are already equipped with the Navigator which can be modified to prevent it from rising when paddling at higher speed. Lightweight hatches - All models ranging from 98-04 are possible to upgrade with the new hatches.

Deck lines Alla our previous models can be upgraded with our new zero-stretch lines.
